I have known Heather Beck since she was running a little pet store. Love that she has put her knowledge and experience into a book we can all enjoy and learn valuable information.

I have two one year old rescues. They both have a similar DNA makeup of pit, husky, cattle dog, and German shepherd, although they look very different. (Different percentages.) Walking them on leash had become a hugely dreaded chore and at 50 pounds each, my shoulders were suffering from the constant pulling. Okay I said, "I'll get harnesses." Yeah no. That made it worse! If you think about it, a horse in a harness is usually PULLING something so same with a dog. They were pulling me. Heather's Heroes to the rescue. These leads have been a game changer. Notice in the video I am holding TWO LARGE dogs with two fingers! Well two fingers and a poop bag. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making our daily walks a winning rather than a losing situation. I'm going to order a second set.

This is the training that my Mini Schnauzer needed to calm his anxiety. We started to see changes in his behavior, and we have a long road ahead, but we believe we can get there with this training!

I agree that this might work for some people but I do not agree that a dog should spend that many hours in a crate. I’ve read this theory before. I was hoping to learn something new

I’ve known Heather Beck many years. I have wanted to purchase her book for a while now. So excited to first give a copy to my 14 year old granddaughter who is passionate about dogs as I am. I plan on my own copy soon. I often showcase the “sidekick” leash when I start my dog performances and promote it to whenever I get a chance.

Very happy doggy and doggy parent

Great guide book. The lead/ leash is the best one I've ever purchased!

My dog chase is struggling with reactivity to other dogs . With the leash and tips from the book he is at 90% perfect in walking now . Very happy about that. He pays attention to me on walks and doesn't pull anymore.

I have a very determined Border Collie "Sophie" she would not walk on a leash without dragging us from point A to B. Terrible to walk.
But after purchasing your book and the leash we have made great improvements. Still working with her, but I see hope. Very pleased with the Book and the Leash. So "Happy" I made the purchase. You are wonderful !! We had a Border Collie prior to Sophie, Abigail she passed away last July at 13. She was the same way, we could never walk her on a leash. I cannot Thank you enough. Sophie is doing great now.

It's been a great help! We are still learning.

I am so happy with these two products. The Sidekick leash and supporting book are amazing tools. I am an instructor at a dog training facility and despite my years of experience have struggled with my young male aussie and his reactivity. This leash is the only piece of equipment or training that made the difference. It created a connection between the two of us that nothing else came close to. I will be recommending your product to my students in the future and teaching with mine in the classroom. Thank you for such a great design and quality product.

Wish I found it sooner! Huge difference!! It helped my 122 pound Shepherd and I am no longer getting pulled.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Still working thru this material but I broke down and got her a crate and she does seem to like it. I am hoping to be able to leave her for a time that is the goal. Still gets anxious when I shut it and step outside. But definite progress tysm.

My husky does not like the nose band however he walks beside me and even when I give him more leash he doesn't pull.

I've worked around military K-9s in the past so Heather's philosophy and methodology are familiar to me. They will produce and obedient cannine.
I always admired the level of commitment German dog owners make when they understake Shutzhund trng. But I knew many that did however- I was a Jäger - hunter in Germany.
For a pet, simple obedience is sufficent and that can be achieved by corrections across time. If you bond well, the dog lives to please and be loved. They try to please once we show them what we need and want. I am 70 and own a 90 lb lab/mastiff mix. He is a PTSD rescue and highly reactive; we are a good match. I use a cane. It is uncanny how gentle he is with me when we walk; it took a little while but he worked it out just from seeing how I move. Sorry but I like to see animals and their human partners in a cooperative engagement. Our dogs know more about us than we do sometimes.

Training going well with new leash...

Brilliant invention!
I have enthusiastically introduced dog park friends to the Sidekick.
At least three of them have ordered one for themselves. More are curious…and may follow up.
One person wished you had pink!
I hope your company prospers!

I love the book! It’s easy to read and a well written training guide to having a better relationship with my dogs and the rescue dogs I work with on a weekly basis as a volunteer. Thank you Heather Beck. You are going to save even more lives with this book.

It's a great book!

This leash has been life-changing for me. I have a one year-old German Shepherd/cattle dog mix I adopted from the shelter. From day one we could tell he had separation anxiety and wasn’t trained to walk on a leash.
I took him to a private lesson and gained some tips from that, but he was still pulling and made walks and runs very stressful. I tried a harness which seemed to be better than a collar, but he was still pulling incredibly hard if he saw other dogs or squirrels and rabbits.
It took a little getting used to, but not long and he was a whole new dog. We work on other things to help with his separation anxiety, but I think overall he is happier and less stressed.
Huge game changer. I highly recommend it!

It’s a game changer for us!

We are just getting started with the sidekick, so there’s not much to tell just yet.

I had tried everything for my very strong Labrador Retriever! We live in a farm so she does not often have to walk on a leash, but we would practice daily to no avail. My dog trying to friend recommended this to me and it was instantly successful. Walking her in town used to be miserable. I am so happy to have found it. I love that it attaches to her regular collar for safety, and that it can also become a slip leash when I don’t need her to be walking right beside me.
Thank you for your excellent product.

Noor and I like the Sidekick. Learning how to use it is worth the time.
Williams, D.
Excellent balanced approach to dog training. Can be used in conjunction with the sidekick.

We learned about the Sidekick leashes from our daughter’s dog trainer in Nashville, TN. We have two doodles (aged 5 and 7) who are very reactive to dogs and some people while on leash. We’ve tried several leashes and harnesses with some success, but the Sidekick has been amazing! After 3 weeks, we no longer use repeated commands or treats, and our walks are much more enjoyable. We are also implementing many of the training suggestions from the book, and are having success with using their crates as a zen zone. Even our neighbors are noticing the calmer demeanor!

We love the sidekick and book combo. The sidekick seems to calm my high energy puppy like nothing else. She is the best behaved in puppy class now and shows off all her hard work she learned at home. Truly a blessing for us and our puppy. Ordered a second one do we wouldn’t ever be without the sidekick. Thank you Heather!!!!

As a dog owner, and trainer I can confidently say that “Become your dog’s hero” is a must-have book for anyone looking to effectively train their furry companion. This book is truly amazing and has provided me with invaluable insights and techniques that have transformed the way I approach dog training.
One of the standout features of this book is its accessibility and ease of understanding. The author presents complex training concepts in a clear and concise manner, making it easy for readers to grasp and apply them in their own training sessions. The step-by-step instructions and practical tips provided in the book have been instrumental in helping me train my dog more effectively.
In conclusion, this book is a game-changer for anyone looking to train their dog effectively. It has certainly made a positive impact on my training journey, and I am confident that it will do the same for you. Don't hesitate to pick up a copy – your furry friend will thank you for it!
Happy training!

Book on training along with "harness" has been so helpful with our adopted dog who is fearful of large dogs. So happy I became aware of this theory of training!

So easy to read and understandable for the dog owners. Kudos to Heather!

Not thinking there was much I haven't dealt with having multiple dogs for years, I was thinking I wouldn't learn much. Boy was I wrong!! This book is easy to read and understand and I finished it on one sitting. Highlighted and made notes throughout it! I can't recommend it enough!
Cathy M.
Great book packed with lots of information! I will recommend it to other dog owners and refer back to it with my own dogs.

I just devoured this book, “Become Your Dog’s Hero”, from cover to cover! And, it has rejuvenated me again.
When I lived in the Salt Lake area, I was fortunate enough to attend board and train programs, Saturday Socials and Sunday pack walks as well as some reactive dog workshops in person with my pup at K9 Lifeline. But since leaving Salt Lake, and acquiring more dogs, I have to confess that I have “cheated” and read other dog training sources and tried other methods, mostly with great frustration. Eventually I get smart and gravitate back to what I learned from Heather and her programs at K9 Lifeline, which are the methods outlined in this book.
I have four dogs now and all four of them use the sidekick with mostly great success. Except for our newest addition who s a German Shepherd dog that I adopted after her owner died. She’s a huge puller and a bit dog reactive so I’ve been frustrated in getting her to respond. Reading this book has given me new enthusiasm for applying these methods to make her the amazing dog I know she can be.
Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know how great I think this book is and how much it has energized me to reapply the methods that I know work from experience! So, read this book, get the “Sidekick” and apply these methods in your training. You won’t regret it!

Molly (pictured on her calm mat) is my third Rhodesian Ridgeback and is currently 14 weeks old. My previous two (one male, one female) both had major pulling issues that made walking them a real chore. That is, until I found the SideKick. It gave me the head & pressure control that was needed to better communicate the pace and position I needed them to be in. Walks became a pleasure.
I was sold on Heather Beck’s training method and devoured the training materials on her website. It agreed with my positive reinforcement philosophy and made a lot of sense. More importantly, I was getting results. When I saw that she had taken all that information and put it into a 96-page book, I immediately put my order in.
The book is organized into 5 chapters and covers everything from Getting Started to Continuing Education, from training methods and techniques to grooming and feeding. Whether you’re an experienced dog owner or whether you’ve just got your first puppy, you’ll find something useful in this book.

It took months to get the product and having called and emailed on countless occasions, no one could provide me with an answer of where the products were or when I would receive them. That said, the only people you could touch base with were daycare staff who had to email as well and could not get a response from those who deal with the products. Extremely poor customer service!
Emily K.
Such an amazing book that should be in every dog owner’s home. The only suggestion I can make is to review shipping and packaging materials, as the spine and cover of our copy came damaged.

I have previously watched Heather's videos. I still refer back to them. But because I love to own and read books I was very excited to get Become Your Dog's Hero. I read it right away. I will be using her methods more and more.

Must read for those who want to learn how to have a great relationship with their dog. This book provides the tools to create a great foundation, communicate with your dog in a way they understand and create a dog that is calm, balanced, happy and well behaved!
